This winter is too cold! But warmer days are around the corner. I love snow and the fun layering opportunities winter allows, but right now I can’t wait for spring! How about you?
Now is the perfect time to start popping little bits of spring happiness into your work week rotations. To get you going, here are 11 spring 2015 trends that work right now for women in leadership:
Floral– Try working pops of floral into your work looks- perhaps in the form of a shell, a scarf or a belt.
I know what you are thinking -“Florals for spring – groundbreaking!”But really, every year florals for spring seem fresh all over again. Note, that is one of my favorite lines from the movie The Devil Wears Prada. Yay, I got to use it.
Head to Toe Blue – Blue is still the new black. I love these powder blue pumps paired with the model’s navy dress. You could also try powder blue earrings, necklace, or a statement ring instead.
Millennial Madness /The Smartphone– Technology is more than a tool, it’s also a fashion statement. Yes, the smartphone is listed as one of Spring 2015’s top 8 street style trends according to Harper’s Bazzar . What an easy trend to follow- just pull out your smart phone, and use it!
Also invest in a great case. And… perhaps strike a pose.
Red All Over – You definitely cannot be shy to rock this look. You are going to command attention!
You could start with just a red blazer. But if you are the big boss – you might just be able to get away with the whole look. – after all you’ve earned it! And you didn’t get to where you are by being a shrinking violet right?
Subtle 70’s – like this summer suede dress. This dress is elegant and chic for a creative or smart casual setting. You can wear summer suede now. Just pair it with tights and boots, until the weather warms up.
Vests- also known as sleeveless coats- are big for Spring 2015. You could wear a vest over your turtleneck sweater, or with your button-down instead of a blazer. You could add a scarf for extra warmth.
The Soft Trench – Diane von Furstenburg is wearing the soft trench trend here. Wear a soft trench on warmer days, layered with a sweater or turtleneck and trousers or skirt.
You can even wear some of these trenches as a completer piece at work, like Diane is doing here.
Gingham – layer a gingham blouse under your blazer or sweater for a little pop of spring freshness. Or work in a gingham pencil skirt. If you invest in a black and white one it will go with nearly everything in your closet.
Blue and White – If black and white is too stark for you try blue and white. It’s a great option when you feel like wearing very little color, and it will still give you a crisp powerful look.
Creme Fraiche – Wearing layers of white and/or cream is a classy trend for women in leadership.
Kimono Cool – Robe like garments are a big hit for Spring 2015. Kimono literally means “thing to wear.” So if you have a kimono in your closet…you will always have some-thing to wear!
