Pleated skirts look amazing, both stylsih and ladylike, when worn well. Yet, it can be difficult to know how to wear a pleated skirt and, let’s face it, not look bulky through the hips.
The truth is, most body types can wear a pleated skirt, with the exception of triangle body types (a.k.a. pear shaped). Triangle body types, try to avoid pleated skirts because pleats add volume to your lower half.
Hourglass body types, you look best in fitted shapes, so pleated skirts aren’t the go-to shape for you. If you are an hourglass body type and really love pleated skirts, try one of the options below that do not include a jacket. This will keep your look streamlined.
A pleated skirt can be worn equally well with or without a jacket since the skirt stands on its own. However, adding a jacket polishes your look while camouflaging any extra around your tummy. For example, a pleated skirt and fitted short blazer work well for round body types – it gives you the illusion of curves through the middle.
