How To Wear Fall’s Dusty Pink And Yellow Trend At Work

At first blush, you may think it would be hard to pull off fall’s dusty pink and yellow trend at work.

But it’s a cinch.

And according to Empower Yourself With The Psycholgy Of Color, yellow stimulates your mental faculties; it activates your left or analytical brain. This color is great choice to wear on a day you have a planning meeting.

Muted colors like dusty rose are more conservative, therefore more acceptable at work than some of the electric color we saw on the runway. Wearing the two together creates a fresh, interesting look your colleagues will either envy or admire. Either way you will be noticed when you wear pink and yellow together:

These colors may read spring to you – fair enough.  The trick is to choose fabrics and clothing items that read fall- like turtlenecks and coats, and fabrics like velvet or wool. Continue Reading →

17 New Ways To Wear A Silk Scarf to Work This Fall

Silk scarves are everything this season. This is wonderful news for work style.

Why? Because scarves look stylishly elegant at the office.

Convey you are forward thinking by adding a modern twist to scarf tying. Fashion forward prints add edge to your classic look. Conversely, if  you have a more casual look you want to elevate – just add a scarf. Taking an edgier look and adding a scarf creates a  more ‘modern classic’ style.

TGI Friday Find

Rebecca Minkoff ‘Aiden’ Mule. This butterscotch color is gorgeous and the reviews are good – 4.5 stars.  Wear to work for casual Friday and on the weekend for a fresh take on the basic bootie. This Rebecca Minkoff mule also comes in black, but I like it in this unusual, yet neutral hue. Mules pair well with pants, jeans, and even dresses and skirts.

Readers, would you wear a mule like this to work on casual Friday?

Friday’s “To Die” Find

_12828530

TD, I discovered, stands for “to die”. Used when something is so amazing you’re worried you just might die.

And the color of this icey blue tissue weight scarf is TD! The mornings now have a little chill. The evenings too. Not much – barely enough for a sweater.

Which makes sense – yesterday marked the fall equinox, it’s a perfect time to find a cool scarf like this Nordstrom brand one I found. It’s a beautiful hue which happens to be one fall’s pantone colors. Pair with red, darker blue, and even yellow. Or be safe and wake up a simple neutral palette.

P.S.  Readers, have you discovered any fun new acronyms lately?

There are many interesting blouse options available beyond the basic button down. Yet you may avoid these options – it’s hard to know how to wear each style.

Luckily chief stylist, Rosanna Vaulmerhausen, of DC Style Factory addressed just that topic at a recent top talk hosted at Betsy Fisher Boutique. I got to attend.

Here are three top tips for women in leadership:

1. Belted White Top – looks powerful and professional without wearing a blazer when you need that extra edge. Add a pointy toe heel to keep the leg line going. Ankle pants balance the the volume of the top. You can find a good top to belt here here, and here.
