How To Wear The Pink Trend As A Weapon At Work

Pink is the color of the moment. Not only is pink the season’s hottest color – you can wear pink purposefully  as a tool to gain an edge in your career.

According to color psychology, the color pink is a positive color, inspiring warm, comforting feelings. You may have heard of the study done on children under detention at the San Bernardino County Probation Department in California. When the department painted their detention cell bubblegum pink, the children tended to relax, and stop yelling and banging.

The San Bernardino result is entirely transferable to career.

Wear pink any day of the week, but especially on a day you might find yourself in a tense situation, such as human resources meeting over a delicate or highly charged subject.  Lighter pink hues signify passivity, lightness, and tranquility.

Deeper pink hues exhibit more passion and energy.

Hot pink, is a fantastic choice when you have a strong message to deliver, or when you are the center of attention- for example, when you are presenting. Hot pink is a motivating color that inspires hope and joy.

If hot pink is not a good color for you – you can still participate in pink-ocolypse this season. Simply choose a different shade. Try  coral, fuschia, blush, or rose, and you are good to go.

You can opt for head to toe pink, or else try pops of pink in a jacket, or an accessory such as a clutch to liven up lunch runs. However you choose to wear the hue, you will inspire feelings 0f hope and joy in others.

Not bad for what appears to be just a fad, at first blush!

Guide: 3 Instant Spring Updates

What a wild ride Mother nature threw at us this year. From 80 degree weather in February, to a blizzard in March,  and regular temperature swings of up to 30 degrees daily. As we head into April,  I am hoping for more consistently warm weather. Can’t wait to pack up those winter sweaters, ditch the opaque tights once and for all, and start baring a little (work appropriate amount of!) skin.

Of course, with spring comes taking stock of our wardrobes, and adding a few staples- my favorite part of course! Nothing bolsters a week of business travel, or a day of critical meetings better than key updates- they make us feel less frumpy, and more fabulous instantly.

Here are three easy updates to take charge of your spring work wardrobe like a boss: Continue Reading →

6 Simple Hacks To Transition From Tights To Bare Legs At Work

According to the cherry blossom trees blooming on my street, spring has arrived in DC.

Yet there are cold spells in between all the gorgeousness.

Since the weather changes from day to day, and even from the time you leave the house in the morning to when you head home at night, here are five tips on transitioning from tights to bare legs at work for women in leadership:

1. The 50 Degree Rule – New York based Glamour editor Sophia Chabbott has one simple rule that once the mercury dips below 50 degrees, the tights come on. When it surpasses 50- the tights come off. Continue Reading →

So many gorgeous Spring 2017 handbags! The colors, patterns, and styles appear more innovative than ever. These three trends add flair to your workday, while maintaining practicality, and  your leadership image.

Ring Handles:

Reminiscent of the 70’s, ring handles exude updated nostalgia, and are a favorite on Instagram, according to Savoir Flair. The addition of a shoulder strap will make it easy to carry a heavy load when necessary. And if you invest in a soft version of the ring handle, you can use it folded over as an oversized clutch as well.

5 Spring 2017 Cosmopolitan Trends You Can Wear To Work

I love stocking client’s wardrobes with quality basics, then adding statement pieces. From this strong foundation, it’s easy for my clients to look fabulous every season.

At the beginning of each season, I simply add a few key trend pieces to create fresh looks. Trend pieces will typically not be investment quality or carry high price tags since they phase out sooner than classic garments.

But there is an exception.

Are the colors trending during a particular season your colors? Bingo! This is your ultimate opportunity to stock up  on statement blazers, tops, coats, whatever strikes your fancy and works in your strategic wardrobe plans.

Here are five spring  trends I’ve interpreted from Cosmpolitan for women in leadership:

1. Shoulders -The eighties called, and they want their shoulder pads back, says Cosmopolitan. But first. Calling all inverted triangle body types- which is anyone who is smaller on top than on the bottom. This is your time to shine with fewer alterations, because body balancing shoulder pad enhanced jackets are out there. Continue Reading →
